Yolympics 2017

One of the great annual Twin Galaxies online tournaments is already halfway through! Yolympics is a team competition that lasts about five weeks or so and covers 20 different arcade titles.

The games this year span from 1980 to 2000 and it's a pretty great selection. I hadn't played many of them before the tournament, and only one of my nominations (Commando) made the cut:

I've submitted scores for twelve of these titles. Still have eight more to grind on (Pang! 3, Pengo, Rampage, Gaplus, Alpine Ski, Berzerk, New Rally-X, and NBA Jam). Still grinding. The level of competition is high this year. Over 70 people registered for the tournament and about 55 have been actively submitting so far. Still a couple weeks to go. Wish me luck on the home stretch!

NES Kung-Fu WR Battle

More competition on console runs. Another back and forth between Joe Jackmovich and myself. I'm loving the competition.

This is one on the NES for Kung-Fu game B. I'm holding the WR currently at 408k and Joe has an open submission for 414k. The one below is for 444k.

SNES D-Force World Record Battle

Ever since I got through a transitional period with my living arrangements and moving home, I've had the opportunity to start putting up video game console runs again. While in limbo I still had my PC and was still able to make MAME runs and play emulators.

One of the first titles that I went after to improve my standing run is the one featured below. D-Force for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System:

SNES - D-Force - 275,000pts - BTS

This is the second submission this year on this title. First submission was for the standing WR of 207,200pts.

Mr. Joe Jackmovich recently submitted a run of 261,700pts that can also be seen on the Twin Galaxies submission review forum. His submission bests my standing WR and I felt compelled to respond.
Joe is a good guy and a great gamer and I look forward to pushing this title high score as far as it can go. This title is one I remember renting from the video store when I was a kid. I simply must keep fighting for the world record.
